Foreign Cities Research Project


Through your history classes you have learned about Ancient Cities of the world. Through reading stories, you may have learned about different places in the world. You may have even had the opportunity to travel a bit and discover the world outside your community. For your 7th-grade Language Arts research project, you will conduct research on a particular city of the world and create a travel brochure to share with your class. Digital and print resources will take you from our campus to a different part of the world. Enjoy your trip! Bon Voyage!

Foreign Cities Travel Brochure

Your travel brochure must include the following six items:
1. History
  • Who were the original inhabitants of the city/area?
  • What major historical events occurred in that city?
  • What current events are occurring?
  • Interesting historical facts or famous people from the city.
2. Important Statistics
  • Population
  • Language
  • Currency
  • Climate
  • Government
  • Religion(s)
  • Size
  • Types of transportation
3. Important Landmerks, Points of Interest and Reasons Why
  • Provide 5 major sites to see
  • Provide reasons why a person might be interested in visiting each place
4. Food and Accommodations
  • Look through all restaurant choices and choose a place to eat for breakfast, lunch, and dinner
  • Provide details on each restaurant and location
  • Choose three places to stay at night (accommodations) at varying costs: expensive, average, and economy (inexpensive)
5. Cover page
  • Pictures of the city
  • Map of the country with the city highlighted
  • Your first and last name
6. Bibliography
  • All sources used are correctly cited.
  • Must use a minimum of one each of the following types of sources: Internet (maximum of 3 sites), Travel books, Historical Text/Newspaper, Encyclopedia
  • You may also interview someone who has visited or lived in your selected city.
